The City of Love... Paris

3rd stop -...... PARIS!!! and the first thing i took a picture of... is the complex tunneling of their escalators in the airport!!! omg... looks like a scene from minority report and the 5th element or sth...

how can anyone miss visiting the eiffel when they're in paris? ok.. i admit... i took at least a hundred shots of myself with the tower cos it's the MUST-SEE thing in paris BUT i looked so terrible in 99 outta 100 of the photos i took... this is the last one... it's not SO terrible.. it's just slightly terrible... booboo... when i strike rich... i go back paris and have a nicer photoshoot with it.. haha...

is my face very much rounder now?? oops.. ok that's not the issue here... who cares abt my face... take a look at the view of paris behind!!! that's Seine river... ahh... beautiful innit? and i pale so much in comparison :( oh btw, i saw a pretty cute guy while queueing up to reach the top of the eiffel... ha... kept bio-ing him until i think he realised... but he's cute mah... lol...

at the top of the tower, they had information of how far each country is fr paris... and yes... Singapore is 10 745km away... whoosh.. that's quite a distance!!!

and who can resist the splendid, magnificent, eye-popping view of paris from the top of the tower!!!??

the 2nd thing i couldn't resist in paris, was its patisseries!!! *droolz* got myself an apricot flan in the end... nice... i love the pastries!!!

ta dah... the famous arc de triomphe...

i purposely took a picture of this carving on the pillar of arc de triomphe because it reminded me of my trip to shenzhen's Window of the World with bainie, jiahui and yvonne... where jiahui and yv and i imitated the carving.... haha... i was the person standing in the middle! hahaha... such fond memories... miss u babes soo soo sooo sooooo much!!!

wanted to watch a cabaret at the moulin rouge... only find out its in french.. actually that's kinda expected right... but still, i took a picture with its windmill behind... haha.. ok, i admit, there's a picture of me blowing kisses to the camera with moulin rouge as the backdrop cos i was trying to act sexy like the cabaret... only to end up looking like a complete fool... and hence, i decided not to upload that darn ugly picture... ha

passed by this huge vending machine along our way from the hotel to the metro station... i'm a sucker for vending machines... haha... so easily fascinated with the assortment they have!

this is the Musee de Louvre... our own Da Vinci Adventure... wah.. spent 4 hours inside can... almost fainted towards the end... saw famous paintings like Virgin of the Rocks, The Wedding Feast at Cana, and of course... Mona Lisa... well, there was like a constant huge crowd trying to take a peep at Mona Lisa... We stood there for about 5 mins... pretty up close... and I kept wondering to myself... What's so fascinating about her? She ain't pretty... has a round face like me... smiles a little awkward like myself... then again... i think i look like her... haha... after 5 mins... i still didn't get an answer... why everyone else is staring at her in awe... HA...

as usual... i like to pose with sculptures... its my fave pastime... LOL

i had to take a picture with this sculpture... cos that's Cupid with Psyche... ahhh.. CUPID AH CUPID... gimme some love... i'm going desperate already!! hahaha... can u hear my desperate calls for love? LOL...

after the louvre, we strolled down river seine... and reached our next destination... the Notre Dame Cathedral... pretty exterior and even more splendid interior... plus it was free entry... which made it even better doesn't it? haha

..but what made it the best... was that i met Kelvin inside the Notre Dame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! like... OMG!!!!!!! He's supposed to be in Shanghai for NOC... but he so happened to travel to paris with his boss for meeting... and we so happened to meet in the notre dame... AHHH!!!! kelvin!!!!!! totally made my day... He's still cute as ever... no wait, think he's cuter with some hair... haha... was quite shocked to see him bald... but nonetheless... so happy to see him in paris!!! suddenly i feel the world is indeed a small place...

out of the notre dame, next agenda was to make our way to eiffel to catch sunset... and interestingly... we witnessed a mob of protestants, mainly blacks (maybe all were blacks)... shouting and singing through loudhalers... and the next thing we saw was a group of Parisan policemen lined up at the junction opposite, in preparation to curb any violence that might result from the protest... was waiting to see some 'show' but in the end, no violence, no fight, everything died off peacefully... ha...

and this is the best picture i could take of the eiffel at sunset (yes, i started taking some time before, when sun was still setting)... but like i said before, i can't quite figure out how to take night portraits/scenes with my lumix... so by the time i got a decent picture, the sky was pretty dark already... nonetheless still very pretty!

that's sf and me in our hotel... it's called Hipotel... pretty decent except the location isn't exactly splendid (according to des)... but it was really cheap... for 13 Eur a night... we get a double-bed hotel room with attached toilet (showers was a shared one outside tho)... the receptionist was quite friendly too... not too bad... Paris was pretty in terms of its famous attractions... and its food is delicious... but otherwise, didn't quite like it cos the metro tunnels stank of urine constantly... the people are much less friendly and looked suspiciously at each other... shopping is quite expensive as well... and the buildings are not fascinating like edinburgh... they were pretty old and nothing impressive (maybe its just the area i walked through... not sure cos des said his area was gd)... bahhh
