Made in Madrid

Madrid was our 2nd stop... Pretty ok place.. visited the famous Prado Museum (above)... ok.. honestly, we didn't know about it until a jap tourist we met in barcelona told us that the Prado is a not-to-be-missed-museum... She said it's on par with the Louvre... so... YEAH, we're here!!! spent at least 2 hrs in there.. could take up to a day, except firstly we weren't exactly artistically inclined... and secondly, it was so huge and so many paintings that u'd really get dizzy after a while!!!

This is the supposedly famous bear and tree statue in Plaza Mayor... no idea why... but since the travelguide mentioned it is, so i had to take a picture with it... pretty cute tho... i don't mean myself.. ha

ah.. before i explain the picture above, lemme tell u first, spain is NOT safe... I got pickpocketed within the first hour of stepping outta my hostel... I felt two tugs on my backpack and i quickly spun arn to see a shody guy with a cap and windbreaker and his hands faster retract into his windbreaker... he saw me glaring at him and he faster walked off... then i realised my small pocket and side pocket of my backpack was unzipped... thankfully nothing was stolen cos i only had tissue paper inside... but still.. OMG... it's NOT safe!!! ok... what made it more unsafe is the above picture... this guy, in the middle (abit dark i know), was hanging arn us... just abt 3m away when we were resting in plaza mayor... he gave us a few glances occasionally... then before we know it... a group of about 5 policemen suddenly surrounded him and demanded for his ID... which he failed to present after rambling through his pouch... and yes, those 5 policemen looked like they had an agenda and didn't simply pick any guy on the street to demand identity... OMG... so i faster took a picture of this incident... ok.. i took 3 pictures in all... before we scrambled away in case they decide to have a shooting frenzy suddenly... HAHA.. *phew*...


this is a brighter picture... but the suspect is being blocked by one of the policemen... and yes, i couldn't tell them to line up nicely for me to take a picture... haha...


this is my hostel for 2 nights... Los amigos Opera BackPackers... not bad... quite liked it... breakfast was simple but sufficient... and i liked the traditional lift that led up to the hostel... its those that u have to open the door yourself to enter in that small cramp lift... ha...


and from the balcony of our dorm room... the view was splendid... it's so spanish... u know those movies where housewives would throw buckets of water from their balcony down to the streets? haha felt like that... but no, i didn't throw any buckets of water... though it was pretty tempting... haha


to be honest, i booked this hostel online because i saw a picture of its toilet... and the checkered walls are so cute that i couldn't resist choosing this hostel... and yes, here's the shower room... i had to take a picture of it because it was the very reason for me being here!


and this is the toilet... haha i'm acting cute i know... bleah... but i gotta match up with the cute tiled walls mah... lol...


this is the door to our dorm... room no. 8... my fave no... ha... and ain't the door very cute too? ahh.. everything is so cute abt the hostel... lol


went out on the 2nd night by myself cos sf was tired and wanted to go back to rest first... wanted to see this Chocolateria San Gines which i read about in my travel guide... didn't order anything altho i was so tempted to! they serve u a bowl of melted choc and a plate of breadstick-lookalike for u to dip and eat... looked SOOO GOOD... ahaha


well, prado museum in madrid is called Museo de Prado.... and this butcher shop is called Museo del Jamon... learnt fr my travel guide that the butchershops here like to call themselves Museo too.. haha.. interesting...


last destination in madrid... Palacio Real.. a huge palace that was really pretty... the interior and exterior was so well-designed... ah, how i wish i was a princess... but where's my prince... dun even have a prince... boo boo...
