Mmm.... Cologne smells great...

Going to Cologne was an exciting experience... and I really mean EXCITING... cos we reached the airport late (some bus issues... stupid UK North)... and we kinda checked-in at the counter only 15 mins before the plane took off.. HAHA... ran from the check-in counter to the security checks... hastened them when we saw on the tv screen "boarding gate closing" blinking furiously beside our flight no. Oh well, thankfully we made it to the plane in time, was once of the last to board... ha... and cos we reached cologne airport at 10pm, we didn't book a hostel room for that night and decided to slp at the airport... so here's our 'room' for the night... it's really pretty exposed with the glass walls surrounding us... but at least the seats have no armrest so we could lie down.. ha... think we all didn't really have a gd nite cos the stupid PA system kept announcing stuffs...

and before we tried to get some rest... des tried to be funny and we videod this commercial for the movenpick icecream he bought from the vending machine... haha.. it was so hilarious but i just uploaded this screenshot only...

early next morning... we caught a train to the city centre to find our hostel... one thing we realised, the german trains are superbly efficient in the sense that they really come on time... not earlier not later... but exactly at the time they pre-stated on the screen... omg.. amazing... not like nel in singapore.. haha

our first stop was the chocolate museum.. i mean, who can resist chocolates? definitely not me... haha... this is the man-made (obviously) cocoa tree which is actually a chocolate fountain... had free lindt wafer dipped in the chocolate fountain... so yummy!!!

the chocolate museum was pretty interesting... learnt how chocolate was made... from the planting of the cocoa tree to harvesting, to processing, to moulding and packaging... wah wah wah.. the whole museum smelt damn good...

and this is what happens to u if u eat too much chocolates... rawrrrr... i think i look the same without the convexed mirror... haiz

this, i believe, is the pork knuckles burger... it was pretty good i must say... the meat was nicely marinated and roasted... *droolz*

went to visit the Dom...aka Cathedral in English... reminds me of the notre dame... after seeing so many cathedrals... they all look just as pretty but nothing more.. ha..

one thing i love about cologne is its food... from bratwurst to patisseries... they are all superb... got this cake from one of the patisseries... still can't figure out what's that fruit inside... it's like apply crumble but not made of apples... ha.. it's delicious nonetheless..

just take a look at the array of cakes!!! there were more... except my camera lens not wide enough (despite claiming to be a wide-lens cam alr)... ha

went to an italian restaurant for dinner... they serve really good food and at reasonable prices!! got my plate of pasta for arn 5 Eur but the portion was SOOO huge i think it could be shared between 2 people...

and what's Cologne without beer? Had to try this cuppa Kolsch Muhlen... only 200ml though... ha... i can't take anymore... in fact, it exceeded my threshold cos i had mild rashes the day after... boo boo...

this is our four-bed hostel room... pretty decent with ensuite shower facilities... reminds me of a quad hotel room... called Meininger... highly recommended... plus its breakfast was good..

last meal in cologne... Currywurst... ahh.. how can we miss it when we were so attracted to the smell when others eating it walked past us... so we decided to get one ourselves... haha... nice nice.. the fries were good too! that pretty sums up cologne... FOOD... and FOOD... and FOOD... now u noe why i'm round...
