Day 2 - A Walk in the City

Woke up at 8.30am today. Had a very good night's sleep and waking up to a sumptuous bfast at Stayokay Stadsdoelen Hostel was even better. Went for a free city tour today. The guide, Jo, was really good. She showed us all around and we visited the Red Light District, Chinatown, Anne Frank's House, Amstel rive (that runs through Amsterdam), Multatuli Statue, the oldest church in AMS, etc etc. Learnt quite a bit about the Dutch history especially during the war time and also during its golden age (Oh, we also visited the old Dutch East Indies Company's HQ too!). We tipped Jo EUR5 from the both of us at the end of the tour. Really worth the visit. Thereafter, we went for a very short shopping trip (which we didn't buy anything but just wanted to keep ourselves warm indoors)... Looked for places to eat but it was pretty expensive everywhere. So, yes, we ended up coming back to our Hostel for dinner again. Had Goulash this time round. And we ended up playing Monopoly. Ha, it was really enjoyable... Ok i know, why're two girls travelling in Europe playing Monopoly all night in the bar? But c'mon, holidays are meant for relaxation and fun and the game truly fit the bill. And anyway, it was too cold outside to walk around anymore. RAWR... i hate to admit, we took a few hours to finish the game because... i went bankrupt (even after mortgaging my properties, i still couldn't pay up my debts to jelli... sobs)... haha... Oh well, tml should be fun... sleeping now!!
